PhD Existence XIV 2024: „Psychology yesterday, today and tomorrow – rock, paper, AI“

 Dear Colleagues,

we invite you to the 14th PHD EXISTENCE: Czech-Slovak Psychology Conference (not only) about and for doctoral students with the subtitle „Psychology yesterday, today and tomorrow – rock, paper, AI“. We will be happy to meet you on 29-30 January 2024 in the traditional premises of the Palacký University Arts Centre (The Convictorium, also called „Konvikt“).

Join us on a journey into the secrets of the human mind and society, looking back from historical roots to the horizon of the near future. Together we will trace the development of psychological thinking from its foundations to current breakthroughs and set the stage for a stimulating discussion about the future of our field in the age of artificial intelligence.

PhD Existence XIV promises a rich mosaic of insights to be shared by speakers from renowned researchers and enthusiastic students alike. In the spirit of networking and mutual inspiration, the conference will provide a space for idea-sharing, networking, and enriching encounters. We invite you to join us in exploring and finding new avenues for psychological research and practice in an increasingly interconnected world.

We would be happy to have you join us by actively participating in the form of a presentation, workshop, or poster (guidelines for submissions are listed on the PhD Existence website under the Registration tab). You can also further elaborate your contribution in the form of a paper and submit it for peer review in the journal „Discussion in Psychology“ (https://diskuzevpsychologii.upol.cz/), which is a suitable platform for early career researchers in psychology or related fields. If you prefer to enjoy the conference from the audience, you can of course also participate in a passive way. In either case, definitely feel free to enter the PhD existence comic competition, where valuable prizes await you!

We look forward to seeing you there!

REDUCING ANXIETY AND PROCEDURAL PAIN IN BURN PATIENTS USING VIRTUAL REALITY: POSSIBILITIES AND LIMITS

This paper aims to inform a professional audience about the results of applied research on the use of virtual reality in the management of procedural pain in burn trauma patients. The main research question is whether and to what extent the use of immersive virtual reality environments contributes to pain and anxiety management in these patients. Through the interdisciplinary team involved in the project, the main elements incorporated in the development of the virtual reality application will be presented, as well as the limitations in the context of data collection and evaluation.

Keywords: procedural pain; burn trauma; virtual reality

The project „Virtual reality and procedural pain management in burn trauma patients“ (reg. no. TL03000090) is co-financed with state support from the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic within the framework of the Eta Programme.

AI, deep-learning a neuronové sítě: zábava zaručena

Mgr.

Proč některé GPT děsí a některé rozesmívá? Přijďte se podívat, co se skrývá uvnitř.

The full programme will be published after registration closes.
